There’s nothing quite the feeling of Spring! Emerging from the depths of winter to dust off the cobwebs and burst forth ready for a new beginning. As the official season of rebirth and renewal, Spring is the time to switch things up and invite in fresh energy and colour, adopt new healthy habits and generally overhaul your living environment. Let’s not forget our skincare! You may find that your skin does not change all that much between the seasons, in which case you may only need to make a few tweaks to your routine. For others, the change in temperature and humidity can really throw things out, triggering breakouts and congestion. To help you on your way to dewy, glowing Spring-ready skin, we’ve put together 7 steps to overhaul your skincare routine and experience your best skin yet:

Let's start with the makeup bag. Check the batch dates on products. Cosmetic companies are not required to provide an expiry date but as a general rule of thumb, mascara should ideally be replaced every three months, lipstick after one year and primer, foundation, blush and eyeshadow within two years from the time of opening. Don’t forget the workhorse of your beauty kit: brushes. We created a handy guide to brush care, including how and how often to clean them and when to replace.

Say goodbye to winter skin and get ready for sundress season! Dry skin cells naturally accumulate over winter and a good exfoliation will slough off the dead cells, increase circulation (allowing fresh blood and oxygen to reach the outer layers) and open up pores to reveal soft, spring-ready skin. Saya Skincare AHA Face Exfoliant is a facial in a tube! It’s suitable for all skin types and contains botanical-derived AHA’s aka. Alpha Hydroxy Acids. These naturally occurring fruit acids remove dead skin cells and promote cell renewal. For everywhere else, Mukti Organics Bio Active Body Polish targets cellulite, stretch marks and skin imperfections with native Bioactive extracts of Sandalwood, Davidson Plum and Macadamia.

Your skin has been swathed in protective lotions all winter. It’s time to let it breathe! Give your pores a chance to clear out by switching over to a lightweight foundation, like Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation or Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation. Alternatively, a BB cream can give the best of both worlds as a moisturiser + foundation in one. Lily Lolo BB Cream is ideal for light coverage and packed with nourishing anti-ageing ingredients that skin loves. Swap out moisturiser for a hydrating serum like Biologi bF Hydrating Body Serum. It doesn’t need an ingredients list and that’s because it contains 100% pure Finger Lime. Lightweight and restorative it’s perfect for pre-tan skin preparation.

The sun is out! And while you should absolutely relish the Vitamin D, now is the time to up the sun protection. Since the majority of sun damage occurs from incidental sun exposure in everyday life, and covering skin is not always an option, protect yourself daily with a quality natural Sunscreen. As a first base, apply WotNot SPF 30 Anti-aging Sunscreen and Primer to protect skin and keep makeup on longer in warmer weather. If you’re on the go, choose a two-in-one sunscreen and moisturiser option like Mukti Organics Tinted Moisturiser with Sunscreen.

Beauty comes from the belly. One of the primary contributing factors to skin condition is the health of the gut. It’s the time to leave behind the fortifying meals of winter and invite more ‘live’ fresh and raw food into your diet. You could even adopt a morning lemon-water routine to aid the body in the detoxification process. The Beauty Chef Glow Advanced Inner Beauty Powder supports your system and creates the ideal environment for gut-health and collagen growth with 24 Certified Organic and Bio-fermented Superfoods, in a delicious berry flavoured powder. Add it to your morning smoothie for beautiful skin from within.
